Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the group of players following the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after making accusations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The manager has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the squad's reaction remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a good place,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
